Accident on a safety path: woman was seriously injured

The exact circumstances of the accident on Sunday morning have yet to be clarified, but for a 65-year-old woman from Villach it ended in hospital.

At around half past five on Sunday morning, the 65-year-old woman was just about to cross a safety path on Ossiacher Zeile in Villach. However, a 44-year-old driver from Villach apparently overlooked her when turning left and hit the woman with his car. "As a result, the woman was thrown onto the road and came to rest a few meters after the safety barrier," the police report.

She was seriously injured and had to be taken to Villach district hospital by the ambulance service. As a breathalyzer test carried out on the driver of the car was negative, and this is no longer the cause, the police are now looking for witnesses to find out exactly how the accident happened.
