Severe thunderstorms herald the end of the heatwave

The Provincial Warning Center of the Upper Austrian Fire Brigade Command has announced that thunderstorms with a warning level of yellow to orange are expected throughout the province on Friday afternoon. This heralds the end of the hot spell, with more moderate temperatures continuing over the next few days.

Thunderstorms with strong winds, rain or hail potential could bring the current heatwave to an end on Friday. The regional warning center and GeoSphere Austria expect the first pressure wave to reach Upper Austria around 3 pm and could last for around two hours.

Two fronts expected
A second front is expected in the second half of the night, but it should have less potential than the one in the afternoon. You should also keep a close eye on the weather during public viewing so that you can react quickly.

No longer so hot
Damage such as flooding or falling trees may occur in places. The next few days should remain mainly fine, but with more moderate temperatures.
