Pinzgaubahn runs to Mittersill again with immediate effect

From today, Monday, the Pinzgaubahn runs again from Zell am See to Mittersill. Work has been feverishly underway on the route, which has been destroyed several times. The train is not due to run to Krimml again until next year.

As of 5 a.m. today, the Pinzgaubahn is running again from Zell am See to Mittersill for the first time in three years. In the opposite direction, coming from Mittersill, the train departed again for the first time shortly after 6 am.

Severe storms, mudslides and mud had completely destroyed large sections of the line. Reconstruction of the local railway line continued until the end, partly because new storms caused damage again in the meantime.

Since June 2021, only buses have been used on the railroad line as rail replacement services. Between Mittersill and Krimml, work is still underway to rebuild and improve the route.

From 2025, the railroad is set to resume operations along its entire route to Krimml. The costs for the reconstruction amount to around 45 million euros.
