Drunk driver (60) crashed into crash barrier

A heavily intoxicated driver from western Styria lost control of his car on the Radlpass road on Friday evening, skidded and crashed into the crash barrier. The 60-year-old then tried to flee on foot, but witnesses prevented him from doing so.

At around 7:30 pm, the driver touched the right-hand crash barrier on Radlpassstraße in Lannach, skidded and skidded into the oncoming lane - where luckily no other car was approaching. 

Wanted to escape on foot despite head injury
There he hit the crash barrier again and finally came to a halt in the oncoming lane. The 60-year-old driver got out of the car with a bleeding head injury and wanted to make off on foot. 

However, witnesses to the accident prevented the man from the Deutschlandsberg district from doing so and alerted the police. According to the police, a breathalyzer test was positive and revealed severe alcoholization. The car involved in the accident sustained considerable material damage.

Admitted to Graz University Hospital
The 60-year-old was taken to Graz University Hospital by the ambulance. The B 76 was closed in both directions for over an hour.
