Novice rider crashed: motorcycle ended up in river

Spectacular motorcycle accident in the district of Weiz: A 19-year-old biker left the road on a bend and crashed down a steep embankment. The motorcycle ended up in the Feistritz. The rider was taken to hospital by the ambulance.

What was probably one of the first rides on his motorcycle ended in hospital for a 19-year-old novice rider from Graz on Friday afternoon - while his bike literally went for a swim. 

According to the police, the young man was traveling on the Weizer Straße (B 72) in the direction of Birkfeld when he left the road in a left-hand bend in Feistritz, crashed into a traffic sign and knocked it over. He then crashed down a steep embankment and the motorcycle landed directly in the adjacent Feistritz river.

Drivers following behind informed the emergency services. The 19-year-old was taken to Weiz Regional Hospital with injuries of indeterminate severity.
