480 people mistakenly promised a place at FH Vienna

Due to a technical error, the Vienna University of Applied Sciences of WKW inadvertently sent out study place confirmations to 480 people, which it had to withdraw the next day due to the limited number of places. 

At the universities of applied sciences, there are only a limited number of places for each degree program, for which you have to apply in an admission procedure.

In the email with the erroneous acceptance, applicants were asked to officially register and transfer the tuition fee within four days, otherwise the place would be given to the next person on the waiting list.

Students rejected other study places
Because of the incorrect confirmation from WKW UAS, applicants have rejected places at other universities, as the UAS admitted to the "Kurier" newspaper. However, these people cannot be guaranteed a place because there are only a certain number of state-funded study places for each Bachelor's and Master's degree course. Instead, the UAS recommends informing the other universities about the incorrect acceptance.

Affected students on waiting list
The affected students are now on a waiting list. There was already a similar problem in 2014, although according to Academic Director Beate Huber, a different technical system was responsible at the time.
