Bethesda announces shooter “Doom: The Dark Ages”

The sparrows had already whistled it from the rooftops, now it's official: With "Doom: The Dark Ages", developer id Software is opening the next chapter in the history of the legendary shooter series in 2025. This time, it goes back to the beginnings of the Doom Slayer.

In the prequel to "Doom" (2016) and "Doom Eternal" (2020), gamers will "once again follow in the bloody footsteps of the Doom Slayer, the ultimate superweapon of gods and kings, in a medieval war against the forces of hell", according to a statement from publisher Bethesda.

Inspired by the original "Doom", players will "slaughter their way across demon-infested battlefields in brutal, massive fights, soar into the air on the wild Mecha Dragon and crush gigantic demons to a pulp in the giant Atlan Mech.
