Rauris wolf may be hunted from midnight

23 dead and twelve missing sheep have been reportedly killed by a wolf in Rauris. From midnight, the animal can be hunted - within a radius of ten kilometers around the cracks.

Herd protection is not possible in the affected area in Pinzgau. For Deputy Governor Marlene Svazek (FPÖ), the ordinance is "the only effective immediate measure to protect livestock and relieve the burden on farmers." 

Various wildlife regions have been defined in the so-called wolf protection ordinance. In these areas, wolves can be removed more quickly after a kill from midnight tomorrow.

There is always a ten-kilometer radius around the bite. The duration of the hunt is limited to four weeks and is renewed after each new bite.
