Dramatic scenes on Lake Faaker See: a holidaymaker from Tyrol "fished" a family and their toddler out of the 17-degree water. 

Well equipped with wetsuits and life jackets, a young family of four from Lower Austria braved the mixed weather on Sunday - and sailed across Lake Faak in their inflatable boat with an outboard motor at lunchtime. Until, for unknown reasons, the boat tipped to one side, capsized and all the occupants fell into the 17(!) degree water.

Particularly tragic: among the vacationers who went overboard was a two-and-a-half-year-old boy. A witness (42) from Tyrol was out on the water in an electric boat and immediately rushed to help and brought the family to safety on the shore at Strand-Nord 4 near the Anderwald campsite.

The water rescue team, which had been alerted in the meantime, and an emergency doctor subsequently attended to the family members who had gone overboard. As the toddler was said to have been under water for a few seconds, the boy was taken to hospital in Villach for further examinations.
