Accident at Erzbergrodeo: Three people injured

There was a serious accident at the Erzbergrodeo in Eisenerz in Upper Styria on Saturday night: Two motorcyclists crashed into each other near paddock 4. A 21-year-old Tyrolean and a couple from France were seriously injured. 

The collision occurred at around 11 p.m. on the event site. The 21-year-old from the district of Schwaz was riding a borrowed motorcycle in the direction of the fan zone. At the same time, the couple from France, both 45 years old, came towards him. The two bikes collided head-on.

The young Tyrolean suffered serious head injuries and was taken to the LKH University Hospital in Graz. It appears that the young man was not wearing any protective clothing, i.e. no helmet. The two Frenchmen were taken to the LKH Leoben for treatment. 

It is still unclear exactly how the accident occurred, according to the Styrian Provincial Police Directorate. There is no suspicion of alcohol intoxication.
