“It’s all about cashing in”

From replacing heating systems to refurbishment: subsidies are now making many things more attractive than ever. However, Wolfgang Neumann, the initiator of the Energy Globe Award, lacks honest advice. The energy-saving pioneer from Altmünster is therefore setting an example for clarity with a digital platform.

Subsidies for the replacement of oil and gas heating systems and the installation of climate-friendly heat dispensers, subsidies for the thermal refurbishment of buildings - the government's pouring out of the cornucopia is prompting Austrians to take action.

"However, some of the products that are in greater demand as a result have skyrocketed in price - it's all about cashing in," says Wolfgang Neumannn with annoyance. The 68-year-old from Altmünster, himself the founder of the Energy Saving Fair in Wels and the Energy Globe Award, misses honest advice on refurbishment.

He and his team therefore developed the platform einfachenergiesparen.at, where people can get information. "We want individuals to know what really benefits them - nobody has an overview anymore," says Neumann.

On the website, private individuals can create a virtual model of their home and then test how energy consumption and emissions change by simulating insulation measures, replacing windows or retrofitting the heating.
