Technical problem paralyzes five Tyrolean tunnels

A test of patience for motorists: five tunnels on Tyrolean provincial roads had to be closed on Thursday afternoon due to a problem with the control technology.

The tunnels affected were the Lermoos tunnel, the Brettfall tunnel at the entrance to the Zillertal, the Bruckhäusl tunnel on the Loferer Straße near Wörgl, the bypass tunnel on the Brixental road between Brixen and Kirchberg and the Porta Claudia tunnel near Scharnitz.

Around two hours of downtime
The technical failures began around midday and the tunnels were open again at around midday. Both lighting and emergency call technology were affected, it was reported.

Server problem as the cause
This was caused by a server problem. In order to avoid such failures in the future, the state announced a comprehensive analysis in cooperation with the company responsible for the system.
