Work accident: 55-year-old man hit by pipe

On Wednesday morning, a 55-year-old worker was hit by a pipe on the construction site near the Tegetthoff Bridge in Graz (Innere Stadt district). He was injured to an undetermined degree and had to be taken to Graz University Hospital. The pipe had fallen from a forklift truck that a 57-year-old man was operating without authorization.

A construction worker was injured on Wednesday morning at the current construction site near the Tegetthoff Bridge in Graz. It was around 10 a.m. when a colleague of his was trying to lift a pipe down using a telescopic forklift. This may have come loose in the process.

Labor inspectorate investigates
The pipe hit the 55-year-old worker - he was injured to an indeterminate degree. The ambulance took him to Graz University Hospital. It turned out that the forklift had been operated by a 57-year-old without the appropriate authorization. The labor inspectorate was informed.
