15-year-old seriously injured in bicycle crash

A cycling trip on the Hilmteich in Graz ended in hospital for a 15-year-old on Wednesday afternoon. He was riding with his brother (18) and his uncle (20) when he collided with his uncle while trying to brake. The slippery forest floor was to blame for the fall.

On Wednesday afternoon, there was a bicycle accident in the Geidorf district of Graz. At around 5 p.m., a 15-year-old was riding with his 20-year-old uncle and his 18-year-old brother in the forest near Hilmteich. His brother drove ahead and turned onto the circular path by the pond. The 20-year-old followed him, but slowed down to look out for other people.

Muddy ground became a danger
This was the 15-year-old's undoing. He was no longer able to brake because he slipped on the muddy ground with his bike. He collided with his uncle and both fell to the ground. The 15-year-old was seriously injured and had to be taken to Graz Regional Hospital. The 20-year-old was only slightly injured.
