Serious crash: e-car breaks through concrete wall

A terrible crash in Vienna on Thursday evening: a woman is said to have lost control of her electric car on Erdbergstraße. Her vehicle skidded and broke through a concrete wall. 

The alarm bells rang in Landstraße at around 9.30 p.m.: the emergency services immediately moved out to Erdbergstraße. Once there, the severely deformed vehicle could already be seen on a green area. 

Concrete wall destroyed after crash
The driver had previously crashed into a concrete wall and destroyed eight meters of it. It is still unclear why the woman lost control of her car. 

Battery checked for heating
When the professional fire department arrived, both occupants had already been treated by the emergency services. Because the vehicle involved in the accident was an electric car, fire protection had to be set up, the vehicle batteries checked for heating and the scene illuminated with floodlights, according to the Vienna Fire Department. 

"After the accident was recorded by the police, the car was lifted onto a tow truck and then taken to a so-called 'quarantine area' for e-vehicles involved in accidents," the fire department announced on Friday. The vehicle batteries had to be disconnected from the wreck first.
