Flick suddenly a coaching candidate at top club again

According to media reports, former German national team coach Hansi Flick is once again a candidate for the FC Barcelona coaching job. The 59-year-old is considered to be the club management's favorite in the event of a separation from current head coach Xavi after an unprecedented back and forth in recent weeks. This was reported by several Spanish and international media outlets on Thursday.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has already reported a verbal agreement between the Barça bosses and Flick.

Barcelona club legend Xavi announced his retirement at the end of the season in January. Flick was already being touted as a possible successor at the time. The first U-turn followed in April, when Xavi, president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco agreed to continue working together until at least 2025.

However, the 44-year-old is now apparently on the brink of leaving the club again, as Xavi's public statements on the club's financial situation and the squad's lack of international competitiveness are said to have massively angered the club's management.
