Ofner takes stock: “A slightly different level”

Sebastian Ofner was knocked out in three sets (6:3, 2:6, 2:6) in his dress rehearsal for the French Open on Wednesday in the round of 16 in Geneva against the Norwegian Casper Ruud. Nevertheless, he is satisfied with his tournament and his match. 

"The match was quite good, especially the first set. The third was also okay. It's a bit of a different level, but it's getting better," Ofner summed up afterwards. The trip to Geneva was "of course positive". "I won a few matches before Paris. It was good to play the qualifiers to have matches before Paris."

Djokovic without any trouble
The Styrian impressed against the Norwegian number two seed Casper Ruud, especially in the first set, before losing 6:4, 2:6, 2:6 to the world number seven. Ruud won the Geneva title in 2021 and 2022 and has only lost in the final at the French Open in the past two years.

World number one Novak Djokovic had no problems. In his 6:3, 6:3 win over the German Yannik Hanfmann (ATP 85th), the Serb only needed 1:12 hours and celebrated his 1,100th victory on the tour - only the third player after Jimmy Connors and Roger Federer to do so. However, the now 37-year-old was presented with the cake after his victory for his birthday.
