30-year-old arrested after eleven vending machine break-ins

Detectives from the Graz City Police Department have been able to solve a series of eleven vending machine break-ins. A 30-year-old Romanian is said to have repeatedly broken into cigarette and vending machines in Graz from the beginning to mid-May and stolen cash from them. He has confessed.

He was able to carry out eleven vending machine break-ins unnoticed - but on Saturday he was discovered. Police officers were able to catch the 30-year-old Romanian in the act in Hackhergasse, Lend district. He was arrested by detectives from the municipal police command, police officers from the Lendplatz police station and the street crime task force.

Five-figure loss
In his series of burglaries of vending machines and cigarette machines, he is believed to have caused total damage in the low five-figure euro range. He broke open the machines and stole the cash inside. He confessed when arrested and was taken to Graz-Jakomini prison. The stolen goods and the tools of the trade were found near Fröbelpark and seized.
