Teenager in pursuit with police

A chase between a 17-year-old speeding driver and the police in Schwaz came to an abrupt end on Whit Sunday: the teenager and his two passengers crashed head-on into a wall, injuring a 19-year-old and a 17-year-old. As it turned out, the driver involved in the accident did not have a driver's license.

The 17-year-old Austrian caught the attention of a police patrol on Sunday afternoon because he was driving far too fast on the B171 in Schwaz. The officers tried to stop the driver, but he allegedly ignored the clear signs to stop and drove off. The officers took up the pursuit.

The 17-year-old turned into Bergwerkstraße, followed shortly afterwards by the police car. At this point, the teenager had already crashed the car head-on into a wall. He, a 19-year-old Austrian man and a 17-year-old Austrian woman had left the wreck themselves. While the driver remained uninjured, his two passengers had to be taken to hospital. 

17-year-old does not have a driver's license
According to the police, the teenager was not under the influence of alcohol. "However, it was determined that he did not have a valid driving license for the car," the officers said.
