Missing equipment: hikers rescued by helicopter

The "Libelle" police helicopter had to be deployed on Sunday afternoon in the Tyrolean town of Vomp (Schwaz district) to rescue two alpinists in distress. The two Germans remained uninjured.

The two Germans (44 and 43 years old) intended to hike from the "Binsalm" to the "Lamsenjochhütte" on Whit Sunday. Shortly before 3 p.m., they had to cross a snow field at around 1500 meters above sea level.

Men remained unharmed
"As the two did not feel they could manage this without an accident due to the lack of equipment, they made an emergency call", according to the police. The two hikers were then rescued unharmed by the crew of the police helicopter using a rope.
