Death threats against other Slovakian politicians

While Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico, who was seriously injured in an assassination attempt, remains in intensive care, several of the country's high-ranking politicians are apparently receiving death threats. The arrested assassin (71) appeared in court for the first time on Saturday. You can see his arrival in the video above.

He himself had also received death threats, Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok, who belongs to the second-largest governing party "Voice - Social Democracy" (Hlas-SD), told the daily newspaper "Pravda". A member of parliament from the largest governing party led by Fico, "Direction - Slovak Social Democracy" (Smer-SSD), was also threatened. In both cases, a perpetrator had been identified.

Previously, death threats against the liberal opposition leader Michal Šimečka and his family had already become known. In addition to specific death threats, the number of aggressive comments on social media has also increased significantly, Slovakian media reported, citing experts.

Prime Minister's condition further stabilized
59-year-old Fico underwent another operation on Friday. The assassination victim's condition had stabilized further, Health Minister Zuzana Dolinková announced early Saturday afternoon. There is cause for optimism, the Social Democrat politician said after visiting Fico in the clinic in the regional capital Banska Bystricá.
