Youngster Schwärzler eager for duel with Dornbirn

At the start of the Bundesliga season, the men's team from TC Dornbirn suffered a bitter 1:8 defeat against title contenders Anif. The next top opponent awaits today, when the team from Messestadt has to play Union Mauthausen. The team, which is full of big names, also includes ÖTV youngster Joel Schwärzler. 

"The duel with Dornbirn is of course something very special for me," reveals Joel Schwärzler from Harden, who will be playing in the Mauthausen kit against his Vorarlberg compatriots in the win2day Bundesliga from 11 a.m. today. "I am and will always be a Vorarlberger at heart."

Top squad with big ambitions
However, the 18-year-old, who is already ranked 743rd in the ATP world rankings, will definitely not be giving anything away to the Messestadt team. "Our goal for the season is to win the championship title. That's why we're the clear favorites in this match," emphasizes Schwärzler, whose team includes big names such as Filip Misolic, Dennis Novak, Alex Erler and Andreas Haider-Mauer. His personal goal: "I want to win both my singles and my doubles."

Against the ex-neighbor
Joel knows his opponents from home very well. "Of course, I don't know who they're going to play in the end - but I actually know them all," says the ÖTV contract player, who has a very special relationship with Niklas Rohrer. "He trained in Südstadt himself for a long time and lived next door to me. We know each other very well."
