68-year-old cuts off his finger while splitting wood

While working with a log splitter, a local man (68) severed a finger on Friday afternoon in Kappl, Tyrol (Landeck district). The man was immediately flown to hospital.

The accident occurred on Friday at around 12.40 pm: The 68-year-old was working with a log splitter when the accident happened. According to the police, the man got his hand caught between the splitting wedge and the machine and severed a finger on his left hand.

Relatives raised the alarm
"Relatives immediately made an emergency call", according to the police. The 68-year-old was flown to Zams Hospital by rescue helicopter.
