Animal mission: Fawn rescued from crevice

The Klagenfurt professional fire department was called out to a very special operation on Thursday: A small fawn had become stuck in a crevice and had to be rescued.

Attentive passers-by noticed the cute animal and immediately alerted the emergency services. The fawn had fallen through a narrow gap between a concrete plinth and a foundation slab and had no chance of freeing itself.

When the fire department arrived at the scene, a hunter also happened to be present: "Together, we were able to rescue the animal." As the emergency services emphasize, the young animal was freed "wearing gloves and taking all the necessary protective measures for the animal".

"The fawn's mother closely monitored the rescue operation and then lovingly took her young back into her care," it says: "A big thank you to everyone involved and especially to the hunter, who will continue to keep an eye on the fawn over the next few days!"
