CLA negotiations stall, suppliers go on strike

As the vida trade union announced on Monday, there will be a strike on Wednesday from 11 am to 2.30 pm. Vienna, Graz, Innsbruck and Klagenfurt will be affected. There had already been strikes in March.

The collective bargaining negotiations have been dragging on for months, with the union accusing the employers of refusing to compensate around 2000 employees for inflation. The employers' offer is 5.8 percent, while the employee representatives are demanding 8.7 percent. 

Monthly wage close to the poverty line
It is incomprehensible that employees who cycle an average of 15,000 kilometers a year halfway around the globe in all weathers are not even granted full compensation for inflation, criticized Toni Pravdic, head of collective bargaining at the vida trade union, on Monday. At 1730 euros gross for a 40-hour week, the monthly wage is just below the current poverty line.
