Car thieves caught in the police net on the highway

Investigators from the highway police had the right nose on Mother's Day: when two Bulgarian car drivers were stopped, it turned out that one of the vehicles had been stolen in Italy hours earlier.  

At around 09:00, the officers from the Villach highway police literally took the Bulgarian drivers off the road after they had entered the country from Italy. According to the papers, one of the two drivers had everything in order - but the second driver (44) presented the investigators with a completely forged registration certificate for the car he was driving.

And as further investigations soon revealed, the vehicle had been stolen just a few hours earlier, on the night of Mother's Day, in Bergamo, Italy. The police subsequently seized technical equipment suitable for vehicle thefts in the so-called escort vehicle of the 53-year-old suspected accomplice. The duo ended up in custody pending extradition!
