BMW speeding driver had to hand in his speedster

Salzburg's police have confiscated the first car of a speeding driver since the new tightening of the law: a 20-year-old driver stepped on the gas pedal at the airport underpass on the city limits and sped off at 135 km/h in the 50 km/h zone.

Police officers caught the speeding driver with a laser measuring device on the Innsbrucker Bundesstraße at around 1 a.m. on Sunday night. The driver of the BMW 420d was traveling out of town when he was flashed. The check took place in a nearby parking lot. There, the officers took the young driver's license and temporarily confiscated his BMW.

It is now on the premises of a towing company. Now it's up to the authorities, as a decision is required for confiscation. It is therefore still unclear how long the speeding driver will have to do without his speedster.
