More and more people are producing their own electricity with a PV system on their roof. In Upper Austria alone, 25,600 new systems were installed last year. And the expansion is set to continue in the coming years.

"Statistically speaking, a new photovoltaic system was installed in Upper Austria every 20 minutes last year, including at weekends and at night," calculates Markus Achleitner (ÖVP) in a written answer to a question. SPÖ environment spokesman Thomas Antlinger had asked about the current status and further expansion plans.

75 percent more capacity
"Upper Austria has seen particularly pleasing growth in PV expansion: 40 percent more systems were installed in 2023 than in 2022, and PV output has even increased by 75 percent," explains Achleitner. Last year alone, 25,600 new PV systems were installed in our province.

We want to increase the generation of solar power tenfold by 2030. We are already moving at top speed here.

The increase in output amounted to 480 megawatts. The Provincial Council continues to set itself ambitious targets: The generation of solar power is to be increased tenfold by 2030. When asked how often there were feed-in stops for private PV operators, no clear answer was given. This was not possible due to the "many grid operators in Upper Austria".
