Girl (14) arrested during telephone scam
Police have arrested a 14-year-old girl in the German city of Schweinfurt in northern Bavaria during a telephone scam. The suspect is currently in custody, police and the public prosecutor's office announced on Thursday.
The senior citizen had previously recognized the attempted fraud and informed the police.
Brazen scam
The 14-year-old is said to have called the 84-year-old on Tuesday and pretended to be her husband's daughter.
Girl wanted to scam 225,000 euros from senior citizen
In a whiny voice, the teenager pretended to have caused a fatal traffic accident, the police said. The senior citizen was now supposed to give her 225,000 euros for bail. The criminal investigation department arrived during the phone call.
An arrest warrant had already been issued for the young woman for a similar offense. She was already known to the officers from similar cases, it was said.
