First defeat for Auinger as mayor

In his very first meeting as mayor, Bernhard Auinger and his SPÖ party suffered a defeat in a vote. 

Against the SPÖ, the municipal council decided on the necessary financing of the project company for the S-Link mini-subway until the planned referendum in the fall. This involves 1.44 million euros from the city. The SPÖ, KPÖ Plus and Bürgerliste have tabled a motion to ensure a "joint approach" to the S-Link.

The financing negotiations are to continue. The aim is to cap the costs for the city. And if the consultation turns out against the project, the city will respect the result.
