Trial in Innsbruck
Police officer injured during anti-abortion demonstration
A 22-year-old Tyrolean woman went on trial in Innsbruck on Wednesday for jumping on a police officer during a demonstration and injuring him. The young woman got off without a criminal record.
Around 200 people marched through Innsbruck at an authorized anti-abortion demonstration at the end of March. However, some people had a problem with the "March for Life". Supporters of abortion repeatedly tried to "disrupt" the gathering.
Question not answered by judge
Some overstepped the mark - including a 22-year-old woman. The woman jumped on a police officer and injured him in the process. Now she was on trial for it. "Why are you not tolerant towards people who think differently?" the judge wanted to know. The defendant did not want to answer the question.
Fine instead of punishment
The woman got off with a diversion in exchange for a fine of 600 euros including court costs and 200 euros in partial damages.
