“Goebbels of North Korea” Kim Ki Nam is dead
North Korea's long-time propaganda chief Kim Ki Nam is dead. He died at the age of 94 from old age and the consequences of multiple organ failure on Tuesday. Kim, who was regarded as the "Goebbels of North Korea", served under three rulers.
Leader Kim Jong Un visited the funeral bier of the former party secretary and "labor hero" to express his deepest condolences, according to reports from the isolated country. Kim Ki Nam had played an "outstanding role in completely creating the monolithic leadership system of the deserving comrade Kim Jong Un", the state media reported.
Kim Ki Nam had served in the party headquarters for more than four decades, wrote the experts of the website "North Korea Leadership Watch" during his lifetime. According to them, he exerted an enormous influence "over the country's press, media, fine arts and publishing industry". He also played a leading role in approving or authoring essays, slogans and other media products to support the succession of power.
