A 38-year-old man is suspected of defrauding a Lungau family between 2018 and 2019 and robbing them of their assets. He stole half a million euros during this period. The alleged perpetrator has now been arrested in Germany and transferred to Salzburg correctional institution.
Over the two years, the 38-year-old is said to have caused a total of more than half a million euros in damage. According to the Salzburg Provincial Police Directorate, the suspect is said to have posed as a wealthy and successful businessman and thus deceived his victims.
Family and company defrauded
He defrauded a family from Lungau of around 300,000 euros with this scam. The victims were tricked into making investments. Another Austrian company also suffered a loss of more than 240,000 euros as a result of his fraud.
He has been reported to the Salzburg public prosecutor's office for serious and commercial fraud.

The man went into hiding and was arrested in Germany at the end of March on the basis of an EU arrest warrant. "On May 7, he was transferred to Salzburg correctional institution. He will be charged with serious and commercial fraud at the Salzburg public prosecutor's office," the investigators said.
