Sportswoman (50) fell from via ferrata

A 50-year-old sportswoman was injured to an undetermined degree on the Poppenberg via ferrata in Hinterstoder (Upper Austria). The woman from Scharnstein lost her footing in a difficult passage and fell several meters into the depths.

At around 3.15 p.m. on Monday, the 50-year-old was tackling a key section of the Poppenberg via ferrata in Hinterstoder, which was rated C+ for difficulty. Suddenly, the climber lost her footing and fell several meters to the next anchorage.

Rescued by helicopter
She sustained injuries of indeterminate severity. The injured woman was rescued from the via ferrata by the emergency helicopter "Christophorus 14" and flown to hospital.
