Seriously injured
Four children fall through the roof of a sports hall
In the German state of Baden-Württemberg, four teenagers fell through a roof while playing on Saturday evening. According to the police, they fell around eight meters. The 13-year-olds were seriously injured and taken to hospital by helicopter.
The incident took place in the municipality of Remshalden near Stuttgart. The teenagers had climbed onto the roof late on Saturday evening and were presumably playing. The skylight of the hall collapsed when the 13-year-olds entered it, the police said. They fell into the interior of the sports hall and thus about eight meters down.
Safety gaps?
One of the injured teenagers called for help in the neighborhood after the accident, whereupon a local resident called the emergency services. It initially remained unclear how the teenagers got onto the roof in the first place. It has not yet been possible to interview the victims.
According to the police, it must now be investigated whether the building has any safety gaps. Three rescue helicopters, seven fire department vehicles and 13 ambulances were deployed.
