HC Linz is the third team in the HLA semi-finals
HC Linz and Fivers Margareten completed the semi-finals of the Austrian Handball League (HLA) on Saturday!
In the last game of the "Best Of Three" series, Linz defeated Handball Tirol 34:32 away from home in Schwaz. The match in Bruck an der Mur was even more exciting: The BT Füchse led 28:25 at the end, but had to concede an equalizer against HC Fivers Margareten after 60 minutes. In the end, the visitors won 36:34 in overtime.
In Schwaz, the home side not only led at the break (17:15), but also up to 22:21. The visitors then pulled away by up to four goals to secure a 2:1 victory on aggregate.
In the last quarter-final duel, the Styrian Foxes' dream of reaching their first ever HLA semi-final remained unfulfilled. The home side looked like the winners in the final with a 28:25 lead, but showed nerves of steel. The game went into overtime at 28:28. The Fivers pulled away with a lead of up to five goals.
