Every tenth driver was flashed during a check
347 reports for speeding, 89 reports for technical faults in vehicles, 32 organ mandates and penalty notices issued for a total amount of around 12,000 euros - this is the result of a focus campaign in Steyr and Steyr-Land. Particularly heavy drink-drivers were on the road there on Friday.
Almost every tenth driver was in too much of a hurry during the speed check on Friday between 4 p.m. and midnight: in 3887 measurements, 347 drivers (around nine percent of those checked) were reported for speeding. According to the police, the peak value was 87 km/h in the Steyr area.
During the focus campaign in Steyr and Steyr-Land, the officers also issued 89 reports due to technical defects in the vehicles checked.
Three drunk drivers
The police also stopped three drunk drivers, one of whom was tested for more than 0.8 per mille. The officers also issued 32 tickets for other traffic violations.
In total, the Steyr police department issued penalty notices amounting to around 12,000 euros during the focus operation.
