Teenage firebugs caught after meadow fire

Last Wednesday, a meadow fire broke out at the "Kuhriegel" in Friesach. 50 firefighters were deployed to extinguish it. Since then, the search has been on for young people who may have caused the fire - with success. 

Handling a mini Bunsen burner ignited a meadow at the "Kuhriegel" viewing point north-east of the quarry path. The wind caused the fire to spread over an area of up to 300 square meters.

Witnesses claimed to have seen four youths at the scene of the fire, which is why a manhunt was launched. Two young people aged 14 and 15 from the district of St. Veit an der Glan have now been identified. "Both have confessed to the crime", according to the police.
