LIVE: Who will win the sprint qualifying in Miami?
World champion Max Verstappen has secured the best grid position in Miami for the second sprint race of the Formula 1 season on Saturday!
The Dutchman set a lap of 1:27.641 minutes in his Red Bull in Friday's qualifying session, 0.108 seconds faster than Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc.
Verstappen's team-mate Sergio Perez was third. The two Mercedes of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton missed out on the decisive qualifying segment.
"What happened to the others?"
Verstappen reacted with amazement to the sprint pole. "What happened to the others?" he asked while still in his cockpit. "To be honest, it felt pretty awful," said the 26-year-old.

The sprint will take place on Saturday from 6pm CEST, followed by Grand Prix qualifying at the Miami International Autodrom.

Verstappen had won the two previous Formula 1 races in Miami. This year, the Dutchman has already collected four Grand Prix victories and one sprint win and clearly leads the overall standings.
