Projectile discovered in coot’s beak

Suspected animal cruelty in Rankweil, Vorarlberg: A projectile was found in the beak of a coot there. Other birds may also have fallen victim to animal cruelty in the recent past. 

A case of animal cruelty was reported to the police last Thursday. Near the Paspels lakes, law enforcement officers discovered a coot with a projectile stuck in its beak. However, the animal, which was still alive, could not be caught, not even by the hunter responsible. For this reason, no further details are known about the specific case. 

However, more cases of dead ducks have been reported at the lakes in the recent past. However, a connection to the coot can neither be confirmed nor ruled out at present. In any case, Rankweil police are now investigating unknown persons on suspicion of cruelty to animals.
