Fencer Eistert fit again after disc surgery

In January, doctors operated on fencer Julia Eistert's intervertebral discs. On Tuesday, she celebrated her comeback in training. Now the 21-year-old is already looking ahead to the U23 European Championships.

After undergoing surgery on her intervertebral discs in January, Julia Eistert will soon be making her comeback. The fencer from AFC Salzburg completed her first free fencing on Tuesday at the Salzburg Fencing Center. "It was a very good feeling," said the 21-year-old happily.

Even though she has a considerable training backlog due to her injury, she wants to take part in the U23 European Championships in Antalya at the beginning of June. "Even if there is of course a training backlog due to the surgery, I have earned the start by qualifying hard and I will compete!"

Meanwhile, her colleagues are at the World Cup in Hong Kong. Lilli Marija Brugger has qualified for the main competition of the best 64 on Friday.
