The hosts were already 2-1 down in the final game of the 33rd round of La Liga on Monday evening, but the Polish star player turned the game around for the Catalans to win 4-2 (1-2). Valencia lost Mamardashvili in the 45th minute following a red card.

Barcelona thus closed the gap on leaders Real Madrid to eleven points. However, with five rounds to go, hardly anyone still doubts that the "royals" will win their 36th Spanish league title.
