Top candidate in Bavaria
Joshua Kimmich: Rangnick? “I trust him with everything”
For several weeks, Ralf Rangnick has been considered the top candidate for the coaching position in Munich that will become vacant in the summer. Bayern star Joshua Kimmich is confident that the ÖFB team boss will be successful at the Isar.
"I have every confidence in him when you look at his past - and what he has already achieved and accomplished at his stations," the defensive pro praised Rangnick to the media group "Münchner Merkur/tz".
"Was incredibly important for me"
The 65-year-old is no stranger to Kimmich, as he played a leading role in the transfer of the DFB player to Leipzig in 2013 as sports director. "He was extremely important to me. I was injured at the time with pubalgia. You'd think that for a player who has cost money and is only there for two years, you'd say: 'Now we've put something down for you, now you have to march too'. But Ralf Rangnick gave me the time to get fit - so that I could perform at the highest level. That was incredibly important for me," recalls Kimmich.
Talks between Rangnick and the German record champions have been ongoing for several weeks, as the ÖFB has already confirmed. In Munich, he is set to follow in the footsteps of Thomas Tuchel, who has to pack his bags at the end of the season.
