DTM season opener
Oschersleben: Austrian trio not in the top ten
The season opener in the German Touring Car Masters (DTM) did not go according to plan for defending champion Thomas Preining. After tenth place the day before, the 25-year-old from Upper Austria only finished 13th in the second race at Oschersleben on Sunday.
German Luca Engstler surprisingly celebrated his first DTM victory in the Lamborghini ahead of his compatriots, Mercedes drivers Maro Engel and Luca Stolz.
Auer eleventh
The Austrian trio did not finish in the top ten together, but Lucas Auer, who had finished sixth on Saturday, managed to bring a car with heavy front-end damage early in the race into the points. He finished eleventh, just ahead of his compatriots Clemens Schmid and Preining.
Saturday's winner Jack Aitken retired in his Ferrari right at the start of the race after a collision.
