Motorcyclists collided on a bend and crashed

A serious motorcycle accident occurred on Saturday afternoon in the district of Freistadt. A young rider on a small motorcycle veered into the opposite lane on a bend and hit an oncoming biker. Despite taking evasive action, the two bikers collided sideways and were seriously injured.

A serious motorcycle accident occurred on Saturday at 4.15 p.m. on the B 124 in the municipality of Pierbach. An 18-year-old from Freistadt had been traveling from Mönchdorf to Pierbach on his small motorcycle. At the same time, a group of three motorcyclists - a 27-year-old from Ansfeld, a 29-year-old and a 32-year-old (both from Leonding) - were traveling in the opposite direction. 

Too late to take evasive action
On a bend to the right, the 18-year-old had drifted into the opposite lane for as yet unexplained reasons. The 27-year-old in front had tried to take evasive action, but it was too late - both collided on the left-hand side and crashed.

Two helicopters on the scene
Both suffered serious injuries to their legs. They were first treated by the ambulance and emergency doctor as well as the emergency helicopter teams "Christophorus 2" and "Christophorus 15" and flown to hospital. The two following bikers were uninjured. The B 124 had to be closed for two hours for the accident investigation and clean-up work.
