Drunk driver crashes into oncoming traffic
A car driver (31) was heavily intoxicated early Sunday morning on the Bleiberger Straße when he crashed his vehicle into oncoming traffic.
The 31-year-old from the district of Villach was driving from Bad Bleiberg towards Nötsch at around 5.25 a.m. on Sunday when he veered into the oncoming lane in a slight right-hand bend on Bleiberger Straße. He collided with an oncoming car driven by a 50-year-old man, also from the district of Villach.
Both vehicles were then thrown into the adjacent ditch, where they only came to a standstill after the 31-year-old's car rolled over and came to rest on its roof.
Test result confirmed severe alcoholization
"A breathalyzer test carried out on the 31-year-old man revealed that he was heavily intoxicated. The test with the second driver involved was negative," said the police.
The driver involved in the accident was taken to Villach Regional Hospital by the C11 rescue helicopter, the 50-year-old by ambulance. Both vehicles were totaled.
