Witnesses raised the alarm: woodland in Karres on fire
The fire department from Karres (Tyrolean district of Imst) had to respond to a forest fire on Saturday morning. A small patch of vegetation near a tree hut, where children usually play, had caught fire. Fortunately, the damage was limited.
At around 11.15 a.m., local residents contacted the police. They had discovered thick clouds of smoke in a wooded area below the access road to the Karrer Alm. The Karres volunteer fire department responded with two vehicles and around 20 firefighters and the Libelle police helicopter carried out a sighting flight.
It soon turned out that the fire was limited to a few square meters of forest, near a tree hut that is mainly used by children playing.
"No significant damage"
Fortunately, according to the police, the fire did not cause any significant damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the police.
