Against WSG Tirol
Only a win will help Lustenau today
While WSG Tirol will only need a point against Lustenau today (17), coach Andreas Heraf and his team urgently need a win. Otherwise, their minimal chance of staying in the league would be gone.
WSG Tirol have been on a roll in the qualifying round. With eleven points from six games, the Silberberger team is the most successful team in the lower play-offs.
Lustenau, on the other hand, have the fewest points in the relegation round with three points. In purely mathematical terms, the Tyroleans still need a point today to rid themselves of all theoretical relegation worries. However, a draw would almost certainly be too little for Austria to be able to intervene in the fight to avoid relegation after all.
"The sights are up, the goals are more open and the chance is greater," says Lustenau coach Andreas Heraf, who reckons there is a 50:50 chance in Innsbruck. Knowing full well that they will have to take a high risk to get the win they need. "Wattens are a very robust team who have very good strikers in their ranks. We noticed that ourselves in the first game," says Heraf.
Options for the new season
It is now certain that Darijo Grujcic (muscle injury in the thigh) and Leo Mikic (collateral ligament injury in the knee) will not be able to play any more games this season. However, the injuries are not so serious that they will drag on for months. Both players are definitely an option for the coming season - regardless of which league Lustenau plays in. However, their contracts expire in June.
Matthias Maak is back after his calf injury. The veteran could well imagine staying in Lustenau.
