On Friday evening, fans of third-division soccer club 1. FC Saarbrücken can secure a very special souvenir of their crazy cup season: The club is selling 600 pieces of its much-discussed and criticized turf for a good cause.

A reminder: Before the cup quarter-final against Borussia Mönchengladbach on February 7, the pitch at Saarbrücken's Ludwigsparkstadion had formed such large puddles of water that the match had to be called off.

At the end of October, a third division match had already been unplayable at the same venue due to the unplayability of the pitch, and the cup clash with Bayern Munich three days later had therefore been on the brink of being called off for a long time. In the end, the match could be played and Saarbrücken sensationally knocked the record champions and cup winners out of the competition with a 2:1 win.
