Zwettler provocative
“Then they won’t have as many ideas”
The championship title has already been awarded to Tirol for the twelfth time, but third place in the Austrian Volley League is still up for grabs: Waldviertel put themselves in a position to win the medal in front of their own crowd on Saturday with a 3:2 home win and a narrow 2:3 at Aich/Dob. It would be a sensation!
"We were aiming for the top four in the cup and in the league because we've had a rebuild," revealed club boss Werner Hahn, "and we finished joint third in the cup. And now we also have it in our hands in the AVL." The Zwettler have been badly shaken: Their strongest player, Gulak, was out in December, and two middle blockers were also affected. "Then we hollowed out our second division team - and the lads fought like lions!"
The plan for the deciding game? "If Aich/Dob control us via the service, it will be difficult - but if they let us into the game, they won't have as many ideas. Our arena is full, so everyone has to fight!"
